SPOKANE, Wash. — Colder temperatures are coming to the Inland Northwest, and kids are in need of warm clothes.
Coats 4 Kids is celebrating its 38th year. Hosted by Chief Meteorologist Kris Crocker, 4 News Now collects coats to ensure every child in the Inland Northwest is warm during the winter months. 4 News Now has collected, cleaned and distributed over 400,000 coats since its launch in 1985.
In 2021, 4 News Now collected almost 10,000 coats.
Coats 4 Kids starts Wednesday with a live kickoff event at the Safeway on 32nd Street and Highway 27. A live marching band and food will be there. Local firefighters will be donating coats, and free flu shots will be available for those interested.
The official collection begins October 1 and runs through the month of October. The coats are professionally cleaned at ALSCO and then delivered to local community centers for distribution. The coats will be distributed in early November.

You can donate any type of children’s coat, preferably new or gently used winter coats.
