SPOKANE, Wash. -- Former North Central High School basketball coach Andre Ervin has been found not guilty in four counts of sexual misconduct involving students.
Ervin faced one count of viewing depictions of a minor, one count of sexual misconduct with a minor, and two counts of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.
The verdict was reached Wednesday morning following jury deliberations which began Tuesday.Â
"We are aware of the conclusion of the criminal trial process," Spokane Public Schools said in a statement. "The Spokane Public Schools Human Resources Department is moving forward with due process to address employee conduct."
Ervin was pretty emotionless throughout the trial, but that changed on Wednesday.Â
Almost immediately after the judge read the jury's verdict, he began crying.
Two students accused Ervin of sexual misconduct, and it's been months since Ervin has been able to work at North Central High School.
Ervin took the stand in his trial and in his testimony, remaining consistent that he did not touch a student inappropriately nor did he look at a student's explicit photos.
While the prosecution relied on his accusers' testimonies, the defense focused on inconsistencies with the girl's stories.Â
Ervin has been facing these allegations since April of last year.
